THE CAMPAIGN

A multifaceted, sensorial campaign conceptualised, photographed and directed by Tyler Mitchell for Comme des Garçon’s latest fragrance, ‘Copper’.

Using oxidised textures and abstract limbs, Mitchell creates a visual allegory for black celebration, a common theme running throughout his work.

I wanted to visually link the idea of copper — a material typically perceived to be cheaper than gold — to the idea of black and brown skin and richness as a way of elevating the two.

THE LAUNCH

The campaign was celebrated with a private dinner and exhibition held at the brand’s flagship store in Paris. It has since received significant press from publications including i-D, Vice and Dazed Magazine.
